Business and NLP Part two

Here's the second part of my interview with Michael Beale. I asked Michael what skills and tools people are typically looking for from an NLP Business course. I think you might be surprised by Michael's response and how it might very well apply to you. This is only 4 minutes long. Click the play button to listen.

The next
MetaMorphosis NLP Practitioner Training starts 26 July 2010. Put it in your calendar and make plans to be there now.

Business and NLP

I'm really excited because I've just completed an interview with Michael Beale. Michael is a NLP Business Trainer in Milton Keynes in the UK. Check out his web site at ppimk.com. I've split the interview into several 'bite sized chunks' of no more than 10 minutes duration. I'll put them up on the blog over the next few weeks. This means that you can come back and listen to quality information in time frames that fit into your morning or afternoon tea breaks!

Here's the first!
It's 7 minutes long. I know you're going to enjoy it. Michael tells you what are some of the misconceptions of NLP, about the type of the people who attend NLP courses and the MAIN reasons people go on courses (it's not what you think!) So sit back, relax, click the play button and listen up!

The Calm Spot

A couple of people have asked me recently, 'Where's the Calm Spot?' I can't find it since you made over your web site. I searched for it myself the other day and it wasn't there. So I decided it was time to record a new one. I'm limited as to when I can do recordings. Basically I can only record once it's dark and Shaggy, my parrot is in bed (Yes, I know..) I've tried numerous times to record things during the day but it's a waste of time because Shaggy just tries to join in!

So, I've just finished recording a new Calm Spot. It's 1.00 am! If I hadn't listened to it a couple of times to check it I'd be like a Zombie myself. So I know it works!

What's the Calm Spot?
The idea is that you sit back and relax for seven and a half minutes to refresh yourself during the day (or night). It's easy to get stressed and tired when you're working hard. It makes a lot of sense to take a short break and relax rather that trying to struggle through and pin your eyes open with matchsticks! Take the break and your mind and body will thank you by being more alert. Want to try? Go to the Calm Spot.

Cause Effect - Part two. How to be at cause

Click the button to hear the second part of this audio.

Here are the questions which will help put you back in control no matter what circumstances life brings.
1. What can you do, right now, so you start feeling more in control?
2. How are you letting what's happened in your past influence how you feel or what you're doing now?'
3. What could you do or think about, right now to help you feel just a little bit better?

Cause Effect - Where are you today?

I'm making this an auditory/visual blog post. I want to explain a very simple model to you. But don't be fooled by its simplicity. Many people have described it as 'liberating' and 'life transforming.'

Click the button and listen while I use the diagram below to explain this profound model.

MetaMoreTalk out today

I'm sending out my eNewsletter, MetaMoreTalk today. I'm so glad I didn't try and send it out while I've been having all the teething problems with the web site. If this is your first visit, I promise future blogs will be about issues relevant to building better relationships, improving your career options and being the best you can be with NLP.

Tsunami or no Tsunami?

I was working away on tomorrow's new version of MetaMoreTalk when a friend rang from Auckland sounding quite agitated. She'd heard on the radio that people in specific West Coast towns, including Raglan were being told to evacuate.
'Why do we need to evacuate?' said I.
'Because of the Tsunami'
'What Tsunami?'
"The one that's happening because of the earthquake.'
'What earthquake?'
'Haven't you heard the news?'
'What news?'
(Gee I can be dense at times!)
After hanging up I set about trying to find out what was going on, by which time it was basically all over!

A trip into town revealed that the whole CBD had been evacuated this morning as a precautionary measure. I also learned that the siren for a civil disaster is exactly the same as the siren that calls the volunteer firemen.

Boo Boo resulting in Boo Hoo!

I had been doing some work on the back end of the website. Later, I was talking to a friend in Auckland and was most excited about her having a look and telling me what she thought. 'Hmm, well I can't actually get your website,' she said, hesitantly. 'I'm getting a message saying, 'can't access the server.'' Discovering she could apparently get every other website on the net I went into a mild panic. I realised I must have made a serious mistake.

Thank God for John
A Skype call to my knight in shining armour - or in Johns case - jeans and T shirt, fixed up my mistake and I was back on line in no time. That'll teach me to be clever! John also helped me out with getting the audio on the new site. Everything is easy when you know how!

More Problems

I went up to Raglan to the DVD store/internet cafe (without the cafe) to see what the web site looked like on a different computer and in different browsers. After 1 hour and with a feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach, the manager delivered me a free Cookie Time cookie (maybe it is a cafe after all).

The dread was the feeling that resulted from seeing some horrible mistakes I hadn't noticed before. The side bar was completely missing on a number of pages in i.e 6. (Does anyone really still use this awful browser?) Then it was back home to fix all the issues. And another 1.00 am finish

Launch Day!

Today's the Day the website goes live
After months of hard work I'm about to let my 'baby' see the light of day. And let people experience my 'baby' for the first time. It's very exciting, but in a quiet, subdued kind of way. There are no cheering crowds or loud fanfares.

Deep Satisfaction
Yes, I'm feeling that deep satisfaction that comes from having created something from scratch. I've found it to be a very creative process. It's also been challenging, frustrating and exciting.

Learning
I've learnt heaps. I think that's probably the best part. There are consistent items on almost every page of the web site so the repetition has enhanced my learning how to do this stuff. I could say I'm reasonably proficient. I won't because I'm bound to have made some mistakes that I haven't yet found.
